In his most ambitious work to date, Thomas L. Friedman shows that we have entered an age of dizzying acceleration - and explains how to live in it. How the world went from flat to fast - and how to cope with an era in which technology, globalization, the climate, and nations' debts are all undergoing exponential change.
This is the first of Thomas Friedman’s books that I have read, and it has been enjoyable, frightening and hard going in equal measure. A New York Times journalist who spent most of his early career as a correspondent in the Middle East, Friedman writes some of the longest paragraphs I have come across for a long time, and although almost everything he has written is interesting and engaging, it has taken me a good six weeks to finish – and finished off two other non-fiction books along the way. I am rather at a loss to explain why I have been so slow – I normally read voraciously.
